A Guide to Caring for Your TORA Candle
To ensure your candle burns safely, beautifully, and for as long as possible, please follow these simple care instructions.
1. Lighting your Candle
When lighting your candle, hold in your hand and tip at an angle. Use a match rather than a lighter and gently touch the wick for a second or two, this should light the candle. Tip the candle upright and let it burn. The cracking noise you may hear is from the wick which adds to the tranquility of the burn.
2. The First Burn is the Most Important
When you light your candle for the first time, allow it to burn for at least 2-3 hours, or until the entire surface of the wax has melted into a liquid pool right up to the edges of the ceramic container. This initial burn creates a "memory pool" for the wax. If you extinguish the candle before the full surface has melted, it may lead to tunnelling, where a hollow forms down the center of the candle, leaving a ring of unused wax around the edges.
3. Clean the Wooden Wick
Before each subsequent burn, clean the wick gently pull off the soot from the wick and blow away any soot particles remaining on the candle wax. Do not do this when the candle is lit or after a burn and still hot.
4. Burn for Optimal Time
For the best performance, do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Burning it for too long can cause the wick to mushroom and the container to overheat. After 4 hours, extinguish the flame, allow the candle to cool, trim the wick, and then re-light it.
5. Safety First
Always place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, vents, or flammable objects.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Discontinue use when only about 10mm of wax remains at the bottom. This prevents the container from overheating and potentially cracking.
By following these simple steps, you can enjoy a long-lasting, clean, and beautiful candle experience every time.
