The Tora Hand Crafted Kyoto Candle
Hand made by Tora Living and Inspired by the serene tranquility of life in Japan, this candle is a sensory journey designed to transport you. Housed in a 340ml ceramic vessel with a natural, earthy finish, it is a vessel of peace. The wooden wick is its soul, a source of soft light and a gentle, rhythmic crackle that echoes the peaceful sound of a traditional Japanese hearth.
The candle is a journey into the many temples and shrines of Kyoto once the capital of Japan. Essentially, the scent you perceive of Bergamot, Lilly of the valley and sandlewood is a fragrant history—the accumulated aroma of continuous ritual, the sacred wood of the buildings themselves, and the ever-present, serene scents of the surrounding Japanese landscape.
To honor its reverence, the candle is presented in a bespoke, hand-finished Paulownia style wood box, a kiri-bako, which has long been the traditional sanctuary for precious items, ensuring its fragrance and form remain pristine. It is more than a candle—it is a moment of stillness, thoughtfully packaged to be cherished and shared.
